Many of the YouTubers I help are regularly plagued with a paralyzing fear that keeps them from taking the actions necessary to win on YouTube.
Fear is One of the Number One Success Killers
Over the years, I've worked with a number of creators who struggle to get started. In most of these cases, I'd attribute their lack of progress to fear.
Usually these folks are afraid of one thing...FAILURE!
This fear manifests itself in many different ways. But in the end, these creators are ultimately scared to start because they believe they are destined to fail.
Remember this awesome quote:
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right. ― Henry Ford
How Can We Overcome This Fear of Failing
Purpose and desire.
Let's say you are really out of shape. If someone put a gun to your head and told you that you had to run ten miles or they would shoot, could you do it? Of course you could. You'd figure out a way to run the ten miles because your desire to live is greater than your desire to not run ten miles.
As a wise man once told me, "when you want to succeed as badly as you want to live, you will." In other words, you have to want something bad enough if you are ever going to achieve it. It has to haunt you every day. Otherwise, you won't ever find the emotional strength to push through the pain of progress.
For all the YouTubers who watch or read this, this is a gut check. Are you a creator who really wants to affect positive change in the lives of your viewers? Or are you just an opportunist who came to YouTube thinking success would be easy and not require hard work and dedication?
If you associate yourself with the second question, you now know why fear has kept you from getting started. You don't want this bad enough to try, fail, and try again until you win. And until you get there, no tips, tricks or blogs in the world can help you.
